UKU Jewellery is handmade from dense clays that are high fired, and predominantly recycled sterling silver and solid or rolled gold chains.

This makes them very strong but they still need (like all jewellry) to be handled and stored with care.

 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CARING FOR YOUR UKU JEWELLRY

To protect your jewellery from knocks, scratching and chemicals. We suggest you;

  • Store your jewellery in a soft lined jewellery box.
  • Try to keep pieces apart so they don’t rub together.
  • Jewellery doesn't like moisture so avoid damp areas for your jewellery storage.

STERLING SILVER AND GOLD
Keep silver and gold jewellery away from harsh chemicals such as household cleaning fluids as they create abrasions and reduce the lustre of the metal. Cleaning silver jewellery is best done with a professional jewellery cleaning product. Gold is cleaned with warm, mild soapy water. Thoroughly dry your silver and gold jewellery after exposure to water.

 GOLD FILLED

Gold filled jewellery is created by pressure bonding an actual layer of gold to another metal. Although a gold filled piece of jewellery is not solid gold, it has the same desirable properties and look of solid gold. The value and quality is in the thick layer of gold.

It won’t tarnish and will not rub off or turn colors. Wearers who are sensitive to certain metals can wear gold filled without worries of an allergic reaction. Although the layer of gold in gold filled pieces varies depending on the manufacturer, all cases are significantly thicker than regular gold plating. Gold filled accessories can be worn daily without fear of fading.

Frequent cleaning is recommended to maintain its condition. Wipe your jewellery carefully with a soft dry cloth to keep it clean and free of elements which oxidise.

STORAGE

Good storage is vital to keep your jewellery looking its best. I recommend a covered jewellery box (like my UKU wooden box) and put in a dresser or draw, free from natural light and moisture that can oxidise and tarnish the metal.

REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES

Each UKU piece is handmade individually, so there are natural variations in colour and size. Therefore they may have some subtle inclusions, lines, or marks. This is the desired design aesthetic of UKU Jewellery.
